How to Become a Master Electrician in Maryland

License Requirements

  • 7 years experience under a Master Electrician
  • Prerequisite for county licenses

Exam Details

Test Provider: PSI (1-800-733-9267)

NEC Version: 2020 (as of May 2024)

Exam Structure (100 points):

  • Theory: 20%
  • Calculations: 30%
  • Wiring & Protection: 14%
  • Special Equipment: 4%

Application Process

  1. Verify local jurisdiction requirements
  2. Complete 7-year experience
  3. Submit application to State Board
  4. Schedule PSI exam

Renewal: Every 2 years
